About de'calibre

De’ Calibre Interior Design Training Institute has been existence since 2007 and is a child institute of Space Calibre Ltd, a Lagos based creative firm with specialties in interior design/fitting out, brand development, architecture and project management. With numerous active trainees and graduates, we’ve trained design professionals with time and continue to bring out new talents.

De’ Calibre Interior Design Training Institute trains its students to sharpen their sense of Observation, boldness, speech and composure, knowledge of materials and costing. We endeavour to maintain a healthy balance between client service and guidance and we remain equally committed to pushing the green agenda which has led to the rise in solar and battery powered houses, low energy lighting and the use of eco friendly building materials. The Right Course for Your Future

You’re probably interested in interior design because you have a natural flair for color, space, and style. But to make the most of your natural talents you need proper training.

De’ Calibre Interior Design’s Course will give you the knowledge you need to become a fantastic designer. We’ll develop your “designer’s eye,” teaching you how to combine various building materials for a harmonious interior and at the same time, we’ll give you the practical business information you’ll need to start your own career.

Many students of the De’ Calibre Interior Design Course aspire to become full-time interior designers, others want to earn some extra money through freelance work. Still others want their own homes to look as if they were decorated by a professional. Whatever your goal, our comprehensive interior design program will help you become a well-trained designer with sophisticated professional know-how.

The De’ calibre School offers two courses. Study with De’ calibre and get started on your new career:

Full time training in interior design: for people who want to change career.
Part time training in interior design: for people who want to develop a passion for interiors and those who want to start on the career ladder.
AutoCad 2D and 3D classes are coming soon.

At the end of the 3 month programme the trainees that have passed their exams will be awarded a Professional Training Certificate in interior design.

Training sessions for 2012

INTERIOR DESIGN TRAINING

The interior design training classes run for 3 months for both weekly and weekends. The training comprises – Theory, Practical classes, Site visits, Training dvds and manuals.

There is a recess every hour of training followed by a quick test and refreshments to enable the trainers recharge for the next training hour.

CAD Training classes

Our CAD Training runs for 6 to 8 weeks. It comprises, thoery and practical class

Classes 2D Drawings and Scaling, 3D Modelling, 3D Rendering	Weekend Classes Saturday (8am – 12pm)
Training Days Weekly and Weekend	Weekly classes Tuesday (10am – 12pm), Thursday (10am – 12pm)

De'Calibre FAQ's

What is the difference between interior decoration and interior design?

Interior design is more technical and vast than interior deco, with emphasis on understanding the structure and nature of the building in question

Does your interior design training cover decoration as well?

Yes it does, decoration is an aspect of interior design.

Do i have to be arts inclined to be able to undergo this training?

Not necessarily, a lot of interior design firms springing up these days are not owned by artists or architects. All you need is the flare and zeal and you can become a practical interior designer with the sky as your limit.

Do you conduct weekend training as well?

Yes we conduct weekend training as well. For part time training.

Do I need to have any special training or work experience before enrolling in a De’ calibre Course?

Each of our Courses teaches you from the ground up. We start with the basics, and then build on this foundation until you’ve achieved mastery of advanced techniques. If you do have prior experience, so much the better. Some of the material might be a review for you, but you’ll also learn a great deal that is brand-new, including countless insider tricks-of-the-trade. However, please note that a secondary school, high school diploma or equivalency is required to enroll De’ Calibre’s Interior Design Course.

I've been away from school for some time. Will I have difficulty adjusting to being back in school?

Because the De’ Calibre experience is so flexible, this probably won’t be an issue if only you have a strong passion for interior designing.

How much time must I devote to studying?

Only as much as you can spare. We have 4, 3 and 2months courses running.

Do I get personal supervision and help?

Yes. This is a hallmark of the De’ CIDTI experience. You have unlimited access to your Personal Advisor, who is ready and willing to answer your questions even during your projects period.

Is De’ Calibre Interior Design Training Institute training appropriate for someone who wants to explore a creative field, but isn't necessarily interested in a new career?

If you think that the training from one of our Courses will help you get further with a hobby, interest, or personal project, you’re absolutely right. In fact, about half of our students fall into this category. The other half go on to become design professionals, working in interior design and decoration or as a consultant. De’ CIDTI offers complete training in these design-related fields — the choice of how to use this training is yours.

How long are De’ Calibre Courses?

For Professional Diploma in interior designs: Duration:
Intensive full time: 3 months While Certificate in interior designs: Duration: 3 month

Do I need special artistic talent?

If you’re interested in one of our Courses, then you probably have a good sense of style, an eye for color, and a strong creative sensibility. That’s all you need. You don’t need to know how to draw. You don’t need prior training in art or design. What you need is a love of beautiful objects and a desire to succeed.

How can I start earning money in my new field?

Whenever you feel ready. Some of our students start earning money from freelance work before they even complete our Courses. As a result, many students pay for their entire tuition — and more — from just one freelance job as an interior designer or consultant.

What do I need to succeed in my De’ Calibre Course?

As we’ve mentioned, no previous art or design certificate is required except for the following pre-requisites:

A reasonable knowledge of written and spoken English.
A passion for beautiful designs.
A willingness to learn.
